The Treehouse video tutorial walks you through the steps of installing WordPress in 5 minutes. The 5 steps required to install WordPress in five minutes are further outlined in this tutorial.
I love learning with Treehouse and if you have watched their videos before, I am sure you would feel the same.
With courses under several topics, Treehouse has established itself as one of the favourite go-to websites for learning web design and development.
The best part about Treehouse is that they also have more than a dozen courses entirely on WordPress (The last time I checked, there were 25 courses including everything from a beginner’s guide to advanced topics such as WordPress Themes and Plugins development).
They also have two complete tracks (combination of courses) one for WordPress beginners and the other for WordPress development, with top-quality videos and course materials such as quizzes and examples to master the skills.
Treehouse videos, however, aren’t free and come with membership plans starting at 25 dollars per month.
If the investment is worth might be a separate discussion, but it wouldn’t take you long to figure out the excellent quality of the website’s materials after watching a few preview videos.

Steps to Install WordPress in Five Minutes
The video walks you through the steps of the famous five minute WordPress installation guide officially provided by WordPress. Here are the five steps as discussed in the video.
1. Download WordPress Files
The first step is to download the WordPress files from WordPress.org. You should download the .zip file and extract the files.
2. Upload the WordPress Files to your Server
Once, you have downloaded and extracted WordPress files, the next step is to upload the files on your website host server.
To do this, as you can see in the video, you will need to use some kind of FTP client. The recommended one in the tutorial above is FileZilla, which is available to download for free and works on both Mac and PC. Download FileZilla clicking this link.
You will need to login to the Filezilla using the details from your web host such as Host, Username and Password.
Once logged in, you will see a Remote site column on your right. Navigate to the public.html folder and upload all the WordPress files from your local computer that you downloaded earlier. (You can simply drag and drop files from your local computer to your server).
3. Setup Database and MYSQL user for WordPress on your web server
While the upload process is going on Filezilla, you can log in to the CPanel of your hosting and setup a database to be used for your WordPress site.
Search for MYSQL database wizard in your Cpanel and follow the steps to create a database and a MYSQL user that has privileges to access, edit, and modify that database.
4. Initiate the Install Process
Once all the files have been uploaded and you have the details for Database and MYSQL user, let’s initiate the WordPress final install process.
- Go to your browser and navigate to /wp-admin of your website. Access /wp-admin of your website.
- WordPress will now provide you with the option to “Create a Configuration File” on this page.
- Click on that and it will now tell you that it needs database information that you configured in step 3.
5. Complete Site Information and Press Install
If you entered the right details, WordPress will now present you with a Welcome screen asking you to fill in the required information such as Site Title, Username, email, and Password.
After filling the details, press Install and WordPress should present you with Success page asking you to log in with your chosen password.
Congratulations, you have now successfully installed WordPress!
