Let’s start by looking at some of the best features of Cloud86 and what makes it an excellent option for your web hosting needs.

Super-Fast Web Hosting

Cloud86’s web hosting is fast. Like really, really fast. They were rated the fastest Dutch hosting provider of 2022 and 2023 by independent studies from Start24. Their average website load time is only 533ms (about half of a second).

That’s because they use several technologies to maximize the speed of your website: LiteSpeed servers by default on all their web hosting plans and enterprise SSD storage.

And with the included LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress, your website could even load in under 200ms! Many providers do not utilize LiteSpeed.

They also utilize the QUIC.cloud CDN, which is especially useful if you expect a lot of international visitors.

According to Semrush, a website that loads within 1 to 3 seconds only has a 32% bounce probability. With a website that takes 3 to 5 seconds, that increases to 90%! That’s seriously a lot of customers you can miss out on from such a small difference.

Customer Support that actually cares

You’re not going to have to deal with bots with Cloud86. They really want to give you the best customer experience they can. They aim to respond to any questions within 1 minute by phone and 2 hours by email during their opening hours.

Unlike many other successful web hosting companies, their experts try to be as helpful as they can be. And you can see that in their Trustpilot reviews.

For example, someone mentioned they had a problem with their WordPress website, and transferred their WordPress website to Cloud86 in hopes that would fix it. While that didn’t fix the issue for them, Cloud86 looked into it and fixed the issue entirely for free.

Cloud86 also includes ‘premium support’ with all of their plans (except for the Web Hosting Start plan).

Even when I’ve purchased domains, I’ve seen providers who wanted to charge me extra just for something as simple as WHOIS privacy.

With Cloud86, you thankfully don’t have to pay for any extra services, because everything is included with your hosting plans. This includes automatic backups, SSL, email spam protection, the QUIC.cloud CDN, WordPress staging, free migration, and more.

However, there’s one small exception to this: with the Web Hosting Start plan, the free migration and premium support services are not included. I don’t think most people need these anyway, but if you do, the next plan which includes those is only a bit more expensive.

Scale as your business grows

Their biggest Web Hosting plan gives you:

Easily do whatever you need to do

Cloud86 offers a modern interface that allows you to easily do everything you need to. They even allow you to edit domains in bulk, which is a really nice feature if you have lots of domains.

Cloud86 also uses the Plesk control panel, which is one of the most popular web hosting control panels with pretty much every feature you need in a control panel. It also includes the WordPress Toolkit, which makes it super easy and quick to launch a website (more on that later on this review).

An uptime guarantee of 99.98%

When it comes to hosting a website, uptime is crucial. Every minute that your website is down could mean you miss out on a lot of visitors or customers. Cloud86 offers a 99.98% uptime guarantee, so you can be sure your website will be pretty much all the time.

While many hosting providers offer a similar uptime guarantee, it’s great that Cloud86 offers this as well.

It’s really affordable

To add the cherry to the cake: their hosting is also really affordable and costs less than what many other providers charge when you consider so much is included.

Their cheapest Web Hosting plan starts at €1.95 / month, and their most expensive one only costs €5.95 / month (with a 3-year plan). They also offer 1-year plans, but they’re a little bit more expensive.

Also, while those prices are first-term discounts, it’ll only cost you between €3.25 to €13.15 / month respectively after that.

If you want Managed WordPress hosting or Managed WooCommerce hosting, it does cost a bit more, but the prices are still very affordable.

Cloud86 Hosting Cons

Now that you have seen all the good aspects, let’s look at some of the weak areas of Cloud86 hosting.

A couple of missing things in customer support

While Cloud86 aims to respond within 1 minute by phone and 2 hours by email during opening hours, that’s not 24/7. Their support is available on working days from 09:00 to 17:00 (CET).

This means that if you have a question out of their office hours, you’ll have to wait a bit to hear back from them.

As you can see in the screenshot above, Cloud86 offers support by live chat, but it’s only available on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00.

Cloud86 is one of the very few hosting providers that offer all email, phone and live chat support, but it would be very useful for users to have a 24/7 contact point.

A few minor things

Cloud86 doesn’t seem to have many cons, especially not major ones. However, there are a few minor cons:

• Lack of knowledge base articles in English

• Domains are a few euros more expensive compared to many other providers

• The “Web Hosting” plans can only be purchased with 1 or 3-year terms. However, the Managed WordPress and Managed VPS plans offer monthly plans. Also, they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can get a refund within that period if you’re unsatisfied.

• While their Web Hosting and Managed WordPress plans are competitively priced, their Managed VPS is costly compared to the pricing of other providers. However, if you need a high-quality and reliable VPS, it’s definitely worth the price. That’s because they include an amazing SLA (worth €69.95 / month) with a 24/7 emergency phone number as well as extensive maintenance and security.
