Gutenberg is the new WordPress Editor that makes it easy to write rich posts with several content and media blocks.
The blocks included in Gutenberg WordPress editor are replacements for common shortcodes or custom HTML that users previously used with different page builders.
Think of Gutenberg as a default page builder included in the core (in near future) that lets you build pages with help of several blocks.
The Gutenberg project is still in development and it's the current editor focus for the WordPress core. Gutenberg is slated to release in WordPress 5.0.
